Mount Olympus School is celebrating a big victory! Its Theatre Club won top honours at the famous Purple Umbrella Festival held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. On 15 November 2025, Grade 9 superstars took the stage with their original play The Last Bus – a powerful production written and directed by none other than our very own Theatre Teacher Mr. Kartik Kay. The play paints a haunting yet hopeful picture of a future where water has disappeared from the earth, and the last desperate survivors wait for a mysterious “last bus” that may never come. Through laughter, tears, stunning visuals, and heart-touching performances, our young actors made every member of the audience think deeply about the precious gift of water and our responsibility to protect it.
Ten talented Grade 9 students formed the cast: Ratnum, Maisha, Ishitva, Nidhi, Aarna, Arnav, Aayaan, Sanat, Chetanya, and Anisha. Their teamwork, expressions, and discipline on stage were outstanding. After weeks of hard practice, their effort paid off with loud applause and the top prize.
A truly special moment came when the chief guest, renowned thinker and author Dr. Amit Kapoor, walked up to our students after the show. He congratulated the entire team and urged them to “keep telling stories that wake the world up.” Moments like these remind us why we believe so strongly in the power of theatre.
The Purple Umbrella Festival is one of India’s most respected platforms for school theatre, and coming home as winners is a dream come true. But more than the trophy, we celebrate the message our children carried: every drop counts, and every voice – no matter how young – can create change.
Mount Olympus School Theatre Club continues to prove that stories can change minds, touch hearts, and inspire action – one performance at a time.
