Ms Sharmistha Gupta has spent 35 years in key positions across a slew of branded and startup schools in India straddling IGCSE IB and CBSE curricula. The portfolio of schools she has been associated with could be considered truly blue chip. Starting with a 5-year tenure at DPS East of Kailash New Delhi and thereafter at St Columba`s Delhi, she became a Founder Teacher at the well-known Sanskriti School Delhi before shifting residence to Bahrain. Here she spent many rewarding years with the Arabian Pearl Gulf School, first as an English teacher then as head of department and ultimately as Vice Principal. After her return to India in 2013 she has served as Principal/ Head of School at Shri Ram Global School and Shiv Nadar School respectively. She has visited and interacted with more than 50 schools across India and some abroad, and obtained a helicopter view of India`s education system, various curricula, pedagogy and standards prevalent in the student and teaching community, as well as resources being used and challenges being faced. Subsequent to this she took up the role of Head of RD at Gyanshree School Noida where she focused on the quality of teaching-learning, school auditing, school startups, planning, curriculum development, teacher training, mentoring and life skills development. Going independent thereafter, she has been functioning as an Advisory Board Member for one of the top K12 schools in Bhubaneswar which commenced operations from 2020. She also sits as a Director on the Board of a strategic branding consultancy. At Mount Olympus, as Academic Advisor, Sharmistha works to empower teachers from Early Years to Senior School level to become stronger in planning and pedagogical practice. She runs workshops during Staff Development Programs and Orientations. Her mandate in formulating and representing the perspectives and policies of the education vertical of SIPL is to partner with the Heads of School to generate ideas, initiatives, plans, critiques and best practices Endowed with multiple talents she brings to bear in the workplace her creative flair in art, music and drama She has a strong penchant for systems thinking, for strong communication - oral, written and digital, and a deep interest in children. Added to that, her dynamism and sparkling sense of humour make her presence felt at any workplace and energises all those who are around her.
